Santa Rosa Rangers outslugs Upland Christian Eagles in 7-6 defeat

1/17/12 – The Santa Rosa Rangers lost 7-6 in four innings at Memorial Park on Tuesday, despite outhitting the Upland Christian Eagles eight to five.

The Upland Christian Eagles staved off the Santa Rosa Rangers as the Rangers were unable to match the Eagles down the stretch.

The Santa Rosa Rangers scored one run in the fourth on a groundout by Mario Badillo still, the Rangers couldn’t catch the Upland Christian Eagles.

 

The Santa Rosa Rangers piled up the steals, swiping seven bags in all. Anthony Mastrangelo, Sean Drabek, and Antonio Diaz each had one stolen base and Tim Pacheco and Badillo each had two stolen bases.

The bottom of the first saw the Santa Rosa Rangers take an early lead, 5-0. The Santa Rosa Rangers’ threat began with a single by Drabek. A stolen base then moved Drabek from first to second and would later score on a passed ball. The Rangers added more runs when Diaz, Badillo and Mastrangelo scored on a passed ball, and Pacheco scored on an RBI single by Eli Miller

The Upland Christian Eagles went up for good in the fourth, scoring two runs on a passed ball and an RBI single. The Rangers record now falls to 3-6, with three games left to play.
