Families can help protect themselves and prevent the spread of coronavirus by taking the following precautions:
Wash hands often and with soap and water for 20 seconds; cover coughs and sneezes with tissue or by coughing into the inside of your elbow; stay at least six feet away from people who are sick; stay home and away from other people when you are sick.
If you believe you are at risk for COVID-19 and live within 50 miles of Riverside, CA, screening and testing availability can be accessed here. People must be deemed “high risk” to qualify for an appointment and the site is unable to take walk-ins.

Healthy Students Learn Better!!
Santa Rosa Academy has a credentialed school nurse who oversees the health management of our 1500+ students. Additionally, there is a trained health clerk who provides first aid/ nursing assistance AND runs the Health Office daily, among her many other recordkeeping duties. The school nurse collaborates with the health clerk, assists with specialized healthcare procedures, provides hearing and vision screenings, creates and implements individualized school healthcare plans (IHPs), consults with teachers and parents on medical concerns, obtains health information for special education assessments, attends IEP meetings, trains school personnel on health policies and procedures, and coordinates the care of students with complicated medical diagnoses.

K-12 Immunization Requirements
Santa Rosa Academy upholds California Immunization laws that require all students enrolling in school to be fully vaccinated. Senate Bill 277 requires all California children who attend private or public schools to be fully vaccinated beginning July 1, 2016 regardless of their parents’ personal or religious beliefs, unless they have a medical exemption. The following immunizations are required for school enrollment by the State of California. All immunizations must be complete or current, meaning students have completed the requirements and they are not yet due for another dose. During the enrollment process, an official record of the student’s immunization record must be presented as verification of immunizations. This record can be a California Yellow Immunization Card, a medical record from the physician or an official school record. The record must be signed or stamped by the physician or by a school official.

Medications at school:
Each student who is required to take medication at school (prescription or over the counter) must have written parent and physician permission on file, as well as, provide the medication to the health office in the original, labeled container. The student may be assisted by the school nurse or other designated school personnel if all the policy parameters are met. Please review our general medication policy, and complete our medication authorization form and return it to the Health Office, if your child needs assistance to take medication during the school day.
Pursuit to California Ed Codes 49423 and 49423.1 and Santa Rosa Academy board policy, students may carry and self-administer only auto-injectable epinephrine and/or inhaled asthma medication if the school receives the appropriate written authorization from the physician and parent/guardian.
